, FOSTER NORMAN
The new millennium could not have begun worse: on September 11, 2001, the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York were destroyed in a terrorist attack, a symbol of the values ??of Western civilization. And the end of the five-year period was marked by another change in Norman Fosters professional practice: at 70 years old, and with no intention of retiring, he reorganized the firm, which in 2006 subtly changed its name to Foster + Partners.
As in previous volumes, the structure is thematic, with the
first part dedicated to architecture, organized by individual projects, and an additional section devoted to other examples that are only briefly explored in sketchbooks. In this case, the number of illustrated projects is considerably smaller than in previous volumes, so the section dedicated to the professional practice has been reinstated, along with the usual sections on furniture and objects, plus the customary final miscellany.
The Norman Foster Sketchbooks series is a collection of books that illustrates Norman Foster's career from the 1970s to the present, through his personal sketchbooks. It is a multi-volume compilation that traces Foster's work in a chronological sequence organized into five-year periods.
